Jason Robert Ostrom, 43, of Checotah pled guilty last week to two felonies, including injuring a public building and possessing contraband by an inmate.
He also pled guilty to a misdemeanor charge of malicious injury to property under $1,000.
The charges stemmed from an incident that took place in the county jail on Dec.10, 2024.
According to a probable cause affidavit Ostrom tied his blanket to a sprinkler and pulled it down, breaking the sprinkler head and causing a massive water leak.
“This is not only destruction of propery but endangers the lives of all the other inamtes and staff if a real emergency happens,” the affidavit states.
Ostrom pled guilty to all charges on April 15.
Special Judge Brian McLaughlin sentenced Ostrom to seven years in prison, but suspended the sentence if he completes a program at a mental health clinic.
