Tony Fields is running for re-election for Ward 2 on the City Council when locals go to the polls on April1.
“I, Tony Fields, a native Oklahoman, born in Checotah in 1964 to Norma Ruth “Jackson” Fields and Cornell Fields, am asking for your support and your vote for city council.
I attended Checotah Public Schools, beginning in kindergarten and graduated. After graduating from Checotah Public Schools, I attended OSU Technical School in Okmulgee, Oklahoma, and obtained an associate’s degree.
I learned at a very young age the responsibility of working and family. I started working at Green Country Kitchen while I was in high school in an effort to ease the burden of the financial responsibility on my family. I also had a commitment to serve my country. So I joined the Oklahoma National Guard while I was in high school and served as an engineer for 23 years. I did four tours while serving in the Oklahoma National Guard.
I am currently the Commander of American Legion Post 21.
My maternal ancestry is part of the Creek Nation Tribe, and I am actively involved with the monthly meetings and activities of the tribe. I am proud to be part of the Creek Nation Tribe.
I worked for Love Bottling Company for 12 years and Georgia-Pacific for 13 years.
I have very strong family ties and a strong desire to serve my community and to be part of positive changes within the city.
I have been a mentor to many young men in the Checotah area and I think of the City of Checotah as part of my family and my responsibility.
