Area sports fans have been treated to some truly remarkable events. The Eufaula Lady Ironheads, under the leadership of Head Coach Jason Radomski, clinched their first district championship. Meanwhile, Checotah wrestler Colt Collett, coached by Brett Oleson, secured his spot in the state tournament, where he will contend for his fourth state championship.
As Chris Evert once said, “Competitive toughness is an acquired skill and not an inherited gift.”
Both Checotah and Eufaula basketball programs will be participating in regional postseason action and one thing that they have in common is dedicated fans that will travel.
And as an athlete should know, they represent their school, community and alumni. Therefore they should demonstrate a behavior that is of honor and respect.
“Pressure is a privilege, it only comes to those that earn it,” Billy Jean King.
This week coaches and athletes need not think of what has been accomplished so far or as Roberto Clemente said, “Why does everyone talk about the past? All that counts is tomorrow’s game.”
Good luck to all our athletes and coaches and remember that everyone is watching you represent your school and communities.
