University of Oklahoma head basketball coach Porter Moser, who is under contract through June 30, 2028, still has a total of $10.2 million remaining on his deal over the next three years. Should the Sooners fire Moser without cause prior to the end of his deal, he would be due 75% of the remaining value of the contract, paid in monthly installments through June 30, 2028.
That would put Oklahoma on the hook for $7.65 million owed to Moser in the event he’s fired at season’s end. That comes out to approximately $200,000 in buyout payments made monthly through June 30, 2028.
Oklahoma is firmly on the NCAA Tournament bubble and the program risks missing the Big Dance for the fourth year in a row under Moser. The Sooners, who have twice in the last three seasons been among the first teams out of the 68-team field, have not missed the NCAA Tournament four years in a row since a stretch of 31 consecutive years without a tournament berth that was snapped in 1979.
