Nathan Brewer, small business owner and dedicated father from Henryetta, has filed to run for Oklahoma Senate District 8. The seat became vacant after the resignation last year of Sen. Roger Thompson.
Brewer, the father of Brittany Brewer who was killed in Henryetta in 2023 along with six other vicitms, was inspired to run for office because of the tragedy his family endured.
“If elected, my main priority is to strengthen laws to protect our kids and increase public safety. I will also continue to work to get Knight’s Law passed which was introduced in 2023. Knight’s Law would require people that have committed certain child sex crimes – child rape, child pornography, child prostitution, and human trafficking – to serve 100 percent of their sentence,” Brewer said. “I also want to strengthen rural access to healthcare services including mental healthcare. Our communities need improved access to these services.”
Brewer is working across the district to listen to his neighbors’ concerns and needs so that he can best represent them at the State Capitol.
Brewer, a Democrat, will not appear on the ballot until the General Election on May 13.
