Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked two deadly accidents on two separate days on I-40 in Seminole County this weekend.
According to OHP, the first accident happened near mile marker 200 shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday. The fatal crash involved five vehicles and killed three individuals:
• Corey Meek, 41, from Seminole, the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado
• Timothy Warmack, 30, from Okay, the driver of a Honda Accord
• Makayla Leach, 29, from Muskogee, Warmack’s passenger Five other individuals were also involved in the crash.
• Jason Starkey, 53, the driver of a Chevrolet Trax, was transported in stable condition to OU Trauma Center and his 12-year-old female passenger was transported to a nearby hospital and released.
• Terry Harrison, 52, the driver of a Honda Fit, was transported to a nearby hospital in stable condition.
• Craig Chartney, 61, the driver of a Kia Optima, was not injured and neither was his passenger, Heather Chartney, 58.
The cause of the accident was still under investigation, when the following morning a second crash claimed the life of a 39-year-old Norman man shortly before 6:45 a.m. The victim, whose name has not been released, crashed his van into the back of a semi-trailer that had stopped at mile marker 208 because of the first crash that had happened and had delayed traffic for hours.
