The Checotah Senior Citizens, located at 611 N. Broadway, is now under new site manager Jennifer Cline and offers the C.A.R.D. Senior Nutrition Program for seniors 60 and older. The program provides congregate and home delivered meals to senior citizens that are 60 years old and over. There is no income eligibility with funding from state and federal services through OKDHS Aging Services Division. However, the program operates on a voluntary donation system of a suggested $3 donation per meal.
It is open 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday through Friday excluding state holidays.
Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m. and seniors are encouraged to join in the fellowship of other seniors.
Call 918-237-118 for reservations the serving day before so meals can be planned accordingly.
The center also provides free health screenings, nutrition education, entertainment, outreach and other activities such as dominoes, bingo, card playing, crafts, monthly birthday parties and gospel singing.
C.A.R.D. has been serving seniors for 38 years and is excited to add McIntosh, Muskogee, Okmulgee and Wagoner counties to their program.
