At the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 fighting ceased in World War I, “the war to end all wars.”
Nov. 11 has been set aside as a national holiday since 1919 to commemorate that day and honor all who have served this country.
Checotah FFA will be honoring local veterans on November 11 with a program at the Performing Arts Center at 9:30 a.m. and would like to invite the community to come and show their support and appreciation to our local veterans.
Prior to the program a breakfast meal will be made for the veterans by the Checotah FCCLA. The breakfast will be held on the west side of the Frost Event Center from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
Immediately following the Veterans Day Celebration all veterans are asked to join in a Veterans parade that will go by Marshall Elementary, Checotah Intermediate and then down Broadway by Checotah Middle School and Downtown merchants so they can show their appreciation for all who have served.
