The temperatures are cooling outside but things are heating up at the Jim Lucas Checotah Public Library. Check out what we’re cooking up!
We offer a variety of free weekly programs with a little something for everyone. On Tuesdays, we have Storytime for toddlers and kids. Then on Fridays, we run tabletop roleplaying game groups for teens and young adults. For those about to rock, we are currently teaching guitar lessons on Wednesdays— with guitars available for checkout. We provide exercise classes for adults, Stay Active and Independent for Life (SAIL) and Tai Chi, multiple times per week. We also host adult education programs so that patrons can prepare for the GED exam. Our library has an evolving roster of monthly and seasonal events, such as our book club, craft par-ties for adults, improv comedy workshops and more.
While we do enjoy staying inside with our books, your friendly neighborhood librarians will occasionally brave the elements and visit the outside world.
On Halloween night from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. you can find us at Checotah’s Downtown Trunk-or-Treat Extravaganza.
Then Saturday, November 2 at 2 p.m. we will be hosting a pickleball tournament sponsored by Market 26 and Checotah Perk. So come on out and join in the fun.
