Soon Checotah residents will benefit from a free health service offered by Oklahoma State University all from within a mobile van.
The Oklahoma State University Mobile Virtual Care will offer convenient basic medical care visits in collaboration with OSU Extension offices and will be set up at the new OSU Extension office located in Checotah.
The mobile clinic will be staffed with a medical practice provider that can administer basic medical care and assist residents in finding a primary care provider who can continue with their health and wellness checkups. Best of all, the service will be free.
The OSU Mobile Virtual Care will help to bridge the gap in the healthcare world by offering non-life-threatening health services for concerns like the common illnesses, chronic disease management and minor injuries.
The mobile unit is not an emergency room, but they can connect patients with their primary care provider with a virtual visit at no cost. They hope to start people back on the path to a healthy and safe lifestyle while establishing important relationships with a new existing primary care provider.
Common illnesses that can be treated include: • Cold and flu symptoms • Ear aches or ear infections • High blood pressure
• Diabetes
• Mild to moderate fevers
• Skin infections
• Minor injuries
• Simple medication refills The unit will also be available for school age children as well as adults.
