A man died while inspecting power poles on Ray Street in Prentiss, Mississippi last Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Prentiss Police Department, the 20-year-old victim died after touching a live wire while working for the company EXO.
The victim was identified as Jayton Stahlhut by the Jefferson Davis County coroner.
Stahlhut’s family posted on social media, “It is with a heavy heart that we share the passing of Jayton. Please respect the family during this time and hold your calls.”
Stahlhut grew up in Tennessee and moved to Checotah in 2018, graduating from Checotah High School in 2022. He had attended OSU for a brief time and had only been married for a little over one year before going to work for EXO as a power pole inspector.
Prior to his employment, Stahlhut was a Cub Scout who earned the Arrow of Light and was a member of 642 Scout Troupe at the Masonic Lodge. He then went on to become an Eagle Scout and earned 7 Palms (merit badges).
