KILLED HIS FATHER
A report has reached this city that Dick Watson, a well-known resident of Hoffman, was shot and killed by his 13-year-old son last Saturday.
The particulars as near as could be ascertained were that Watson came home in an intoxicated condition Saturday evening and began abusing his wife and finally attempting to do her bodily harm. A lad of 13 interceded on behalf of his mother and Watson turned his attention to the boy. Being alarmed for the safety of the family the little hero hurriedly secured a gun and taking aim sent a leaden message to a vital spot, the father dying almost instantly.
The little fellow was arrested and given a hearing but immediately following was released from custody, the verdict being that the boy acted purely in self-defense.
