The Checotah Lions Club voted to recess for summer at their last general meeting on Thursday, June 13. The Lions serve their community year round and invite service-minded men and women to improve their communities by volunteering to meet the humanitarian needs of their communities.
“The Checotah Lions Club is making some changes,” Lion Secretary Iris Park said. “We will not hold meetings this summer.”
In the fall, the Lions Club will begin meeting once again on the 2nd and 4th Thursday of each month but times will vary.
“The first meeting of each month will be held at noon at the First United Methodist Church and lunch will be provided. Informative and entertaining programs for the community will be our focus at these meetings.
“However, the second meeting of each month will be held at 5:30 p.m. with no meal provided. This will primarily be a quick business meeting. We are changing this second meeting to an evening time frame to hopefully encourage more Lions to attend and to grow the Checotah Lions Club membership of local individuals and business owners who can’t attend during regular businesses hours but want to serve their community.”
The next meeting will be on Thursday, August 22 at 5:30 p.m. in the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall. At this meeting, details for the Annual Lions Club Golf Tournament will be discussed. The tournament is tentatively set for the end of September.
The Checotah Lions Club hopes everyone has a fun and safe summer.
