The McAlester News-Capital sadly reports the loss of their Managing Editor James Beaty.

Beaty, a Hartshorne native, died unexpectedly May 12. He was 72.

Beaty was inducted into the Oklahoma Journalism Hall of Fame in 2017.

Funeral arrangements are pending.
