Oklahoma offers an exceptional black bass fishing experience with its diverse waterways and thriving populations of both largemouth and smallmouth bass. As we roll into spring, anglers flock to scenic lakes such as Grand Lake, Eufaula, and Texoma to capitalize on the pre-spawning phase of the black bass.
During the pre-spawn, bass will begin to move from their wintering areas in deep water to transition areas (areas of rapid depth change) near their spawning habitat. Good lure selections for targeting pre-spawn bass include swimbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbaits, lipped crankbaits, and lipless crankbaits fished in 6-20 feet of water around transition areas.
