Read-A-Thon is a fun and engaging way to get students of all ages to read. Recently, Checotah Intermediate School (CIS) had their 2024 Read-A-Thon and students got to celebrate their current achievements.
Students worked hard and collectively to read just over 5,200 books in only one day, along with taking their AR tests. They also worked hard to earn funds for their school and got to enjoy bounce houses and fun activities for all their accomplishments.
Each year CIS teachers take pride in making the Read-A-Thon a special event for the students. Classrooms are decorated in special themes as teachers encourage their students to have fun reading to hopefully instill a love for reading for their lifetime.
Principal Ryan Ambrose stated, “On behalf of our students, teachers, and staff here at CIS, we want to express our greatest appreciation to each and every sponsor that invested in our students and school this year during our Read-AThon.
“We would like to give a special thank you to the employees of McIntosh County District #1, Campbell Medical Wellness, McIntosh County Farm Bureau – Tim Campbell, Renegade Pest Control, Farmers Insurance – Charles Urquhart, Rae of Sunshine Childcare, LLC., High Class Goods, Dobber’s Roadhouse, Hanging 8 BBQ, and Nita Strickland for their generous classroom donations.
“Congratulations to all of our CIS students and staff for another great Read-a-Thon. They worked hard with the great support of family, friends, community, and our local businesses.”
