Two Chinese citizens were killed in a collision with a semi-truck near Council Hill on Oct. 31.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Wenpeng Zhou, a 36-year-old male, and Mengxue Li, 30-year-old female, both of China, were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
Zhou reportedly was driving a 2022 Ford Edge east on U.S. 62 when he failed to stop at a stop sign at the intersection of SH 72 and struck a southbound 2021 International driven by King Rosborough, 57, of Marshall, Texas.
Rosborough was admitted to Saint Francis Hospital in Muskogee with arm and leg injuries.
The accident occurred shortly before 10 a.m. two miles north of Council Hill in Muskogee County.
The deceased couple were pinned in the wreckage for approximately three hours before being extricated by fire departments from Muskogee and Council Hill.
