Associate District Judge Brendon Bridges, one of those who was allegedly threatened, sentenced Morgan Dean Shotwell to six months in the county jail for each of the four charges for a total of 24 months of incarceration.
Each sentence is to run consecutively. However, in the past three years he has pled guilty to three different charges, including cruelty to animals, for which he received a three-year deferred sentence, and to grand larceny and false declaration of ownership, for which he was given a five-year deferred sentence.
His current sentences, all misdemeanors, are to run concurrently with the other sentences.
Shotwell, 28, is alleged to have also threatened District Attorney Investigator Rob Rumble, Drug Court Coordinator Gary Smith and drug court staff member Tiffany Swango.
In a probable cause affidavit filed by DA Investigator Kevin Branscum, Branscum stated that on April 16 at a meeting of Narcotics Anonymous/Alcoholics Anonymous several people at the meeting reported that Shotwell threatened to shoot various people.
“The defendant continued by making statements that ‘they are going to push me until I snap,’” Branscum said.
Concerned members attending the meeting met with law enforcement “and reported it felt as if he was about to commit a Columbine style shooting.”
