City o ials were sworn into o e at Checotah City Hall on Monday, April 17 by City Attorney John Tyler Hammons.
e swearing in ceremony _rst began with a word of prayer o_ered up by the city’s Director of Sports Recreation and Tourism Chris Brown. en City Councilman Tony Fields, Ward 2, led the spectator crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance to the American _ag.
Mary Lou Durrett was the _rst city o ial sworn into o e with four city councilmen following her, along with the mayor.
Councilwoman Jodie Greenleaf representing Ward 2 and Councilman Mike Key representing Ward 1 retained their seats on the city council board. While Jerri Reaves, Ward 3, and Christopher Robison, Ward 4, lost their re-elections and were replaced by Joey Marion for Ward 3 and Jay Hayes for Ward 4.
Mayor Daniel Tarkington was also sworn in for another term and then he thanked Reaves for her many years of service as a councilwoman.
e city then celebrated by making hamburgers for all the new city o ials and their family members.
