Heartland Heritage Museum and Gallery will host a special watercolor class on Saturday, March 12 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 116 N. Broadway. Artist Mike Riley will be the instructor.
Riley, who battles Parkinson’s disease on a daily basis, will inspire guests with his incredible story of staying active and exercising through painting with watercolor. Through dealing with his disease, Riley has taught himself and others the power of one’s brain to keep moving and to keep positive in all areas of one’s life.
“Painting is like therapy for me,” Riley stated. “It has added years to my life and life to my years. I refuse to give in to a handicap mindset and that has opened my mind to a whole new world.”
Cost is $30 per person or $50 per couple. A light lunch will be provided for guests.
A minimum of 12 persons is needed to hold the class and must be prepaid.
Students are invited and encouraged to bring their own supplies. However, brushes, paint and paper will be available for a nominal fee if needed.
Call Iris Park at 405-570-3569 to make payment arrangements to reserve your space.
Registration deadline is Monday, March 7 so don’t delay. You don’t want to miss this wonderful opportunity to learn under such an inspiring and creative instructor.
