Eufaula’s Kole Poindexter helped to lead the South team to a 33-14 victory in the National Underclassmen All-American game. Poindexter was instrumental in the win as he finished with nine tackles with three being tackles for a loss. Poindexter competed against some of the nation’s best football players in the highly watched game in Daytona, Florida.
“It was an honor to play in the same game that Marcus Mariota, Johnny Manziel and some of the greats had played in when they were in high school. I really didn’t know what to expect, but I earned my starting spot the second day of practice and carried the confidence into the game, and I am currently talking to two college coaches on a daily basis and this was an opportunity to show them how I compete against some of the best athletes from all over the country. Playing in games like this will contribute to my future of going to the next level to play,” said Poindexter.
“Kole is a great kid. He really has a talent for playing linebacker and we’re excited to get him back in an Ironhead uniform this summer. He will add much-needed depth to our team,” Eufaula defensive coordinator Jeremy Gragg said.
